Residents' Association
|
BECOMING A MEMBER IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS ISSUES - on your behalf the committee believes it is working in the best interests of its residents: * Are we getting the best service possible in our green. space areas and parks? * What are the town's thoughts around traffic, parking, sidewalks etc..? * Do we face any environmental issues - e.g. Lake Ontario algae - pesticides? * What's in store for Kerr Street now that council has approved new plans? * What's happening at Sharkey's? The Town of Oakville can only take action if they are aware of the problems facing our area. Following are some examples of how you and the community can benefit from voicing your concerns:
* At a WHRA meeting it was pointed out that the flower beds in a local park were terribly overrun with weeds. Response - A few days later, the Town of Oakville's Parks Department had a team out to clean up the flower beds.
* It was noted that one of the flags at the Harbour's entrance were in disrepair or missing. Response - A few days later, the flags were replaced.
The Volunteer Gardens Committee - Burnet Park Team (Burnet between Kerr and Wilson) have completed their work on the flowers and mulch cover. Come out and enjoy their efforts. Take a closer look and see the butterflies it attracts.
Sept. 13 Approximately 50 volunteers showed up to help naturalize the steep hill at the Kerr Street Waterworks Park at the bottom of Wilson Street.
