NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE
Located at the Foot of Kerr Street, in the
Town of Oakville
Halton Region
proposes the following upgrades to the Oakville Water Purification Plant
including the rehabilitation of sedimentation tanks, changes to the chemical
and disinfection systems, provision of an ozone treatment system for taste and
odour control and other miscellaneous plant upgrades to improve plant
performance.
The planned
improvements to the facility, including landscaping and architectural changes
to the existing buildings will improve efficiency and aesthetics, but will not
change the facility’s water treatment capacity. Although some additional structures will be required as part of
the upgrades, the bulk of the work will be constructed within the existing
building envelope. It is also
anticipated that there will be no works constructed outside of the existing
site footprint.
Community input is important to Halton, especially given the
plant’s residential setting. Halton is
committed to working with residents to maintain a positive relationship with
the neighbourhood during the design and construction of the planned
improvements. To obtain your input on
the proposed upgrades, Halton Region will be holding a public information
centre on:
Date: Thursday, April 17, 2003
Time: 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Location: St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School
124 Margaret Drive, Oakville
A Resident
Liaison Committee will also be established for this project to work with Halton
Region, the design consultant and the contractor to provide community input
throughout the design and construction of the treatment plant upgrades. If you would like to be included on the
project mailing list, or have further questions with regard to the project,
please visit our public information centre or contact:
